There is a lot of "apprehensions" regarding ChatGPT and its consequences on careers and humanity.
Fears are further instigated when countries like China, Italy etc ban it.
Current TechGod / "Iron Man" also warned about it!!!
It is true - a lot of us and our friends would lose their jobs. Gradually or suddenly is just a matter of Geo-economics, time and their relative situation in their professional life.
It is not gloom and doom for humanity as I see it.
I ll explain by sharing my “opinions” regarding what ChatGPT really is.
Calculators, computers, supercomputers, distributed computing, and now cloud clusters – all changed society.
Technology is, and has been a tool, which offers efficiency, convenience and reliability.
ChatGPT and other competing generative AI are just large datasets - which generate on a subset of human thought, sacrificing accuracy.
To put it bluntly - It is a tool to aid "creativity" of our work process. Think decks and their most impressive implementation, without much cursor draggaing and resizing. Improved efficiency.
For coders, it essentially means how accurately they can describe "constraints" over a known piece of software framework - whether its kernel, middle-ware or UI/UX. The intent - still has to come from a human.
"Intent" - the key.
Intent is the thought which comes before action, and no matter what latest TechGod tells you - Intent is technically what a programmer specifies to code to do.
This is and would be always true - we still compute on inorganic, difficult to make silicon based devices - logically dependent on the amount of data-centers, bandwidth, electricity, water and silicon world can offer.
Decisions, strategy, evolution - are still in our hands - that is what this era is about - evolving with times, in intelligence, in productivity – for individuals and small teams.
Technically, one can implement an idea without much domain expertise. Engineers, hence their "mangers" would increasingly find themselves at the receiving end of "unfortunately, we have to let you go" kind of communications.

“I am a leader with...”Fear, Denial, Anger - the whole cycle is bound to happen.
I choose to save some time - skipped "Fear, Denial, Anger" to focus on problem solving. It is not easy, but becomes easy with time.
Learn ChatGPT - this is an exciting time when domain knowledge disappears, and one can create exciting products without any knowledge/entry barriers.

I intend to use this shiny new "ratchet"/skill to create something unique, previously deemed unachievable by an independent programmer. I feel it is power for those who yield it, doom for those who fear it.
Tech, evolution, improvement seems inherent to our core human nature - validated umpteen times since industrial revolution, and further accelerated by globalization - there is no point fearing it.

I offer my best hopes to all the people who still listen to the egoistical/delusional stuff i post - this is my most sincere advise yet - think about your strategy in life - your occupation, its validity and longevity - wherever you are stationed.
Consider this a secret - my stuff doesn't get any traction at all - it is not intended to either🙂.

They are tech (implicitly logic) gods of 21 century with one of the
last objects under iteration jabbed the whole world with a very "nice" vaccine.
They really have no intent to program an AI for our subservience.
-constant supply of money, power, authority etc.
I trust the historical reliability of the rich and the famous
- they have never let us down, never will.
I also just believe - whatever New York Times, BBC, Times of India,
Hindustan times and most news channels report, or the clever ones which "imply".
I wont research for me, TV and their "tech gurus" do all this for free
- News is ! a business, intended to make money for news makers,
then first top dogs, then their management, then stock market and finally – the masses.
This is not at all part of money making waterfall model or triangle
of power where
our inflated egos reside at bottom- no matter what your title lets you believe.

might work out a few bots with AI to "play" fork few recommendation
algos. Spells, bad english should be evident.
