A haunting story
This was few years back...
the broken hand was healed. cast was off.
felt tired all the time : the pain in hand became unbearable after few hours at keyboard.
Naps in evening : became compulsory.
This evening : was 1nce in a lifetime.
An unusual power surge...and the whole house : was dimming and shining...
just like a haunted movie..
it was like the whole house and its electric supply : was connected to a giant capacitor.
Like any mechanic : i rushed to the power panel..
turned all MCB's off.
Went outside : to figure out if it was isolated to my house..
or general power supply.
Nothing : nada : normal.
The haunting humming sound : was still ringing in my ears.
Tried to 'think'...
turned all minor MCBs off.
turned Major MCBs on.
and started restoring power to individual rooms : to figure out if it was a short.
Everything normal : every mcb came on
Normal
Phew.
Too awake to go to nap...
I was just trying to make sense out of it all...
Within a minute : same thing.
Turned all MCBs off : again.
Same routine : with more verification.
Nothing.
waited 5 minutes. called people : all normal.
Disconnected all major power consumers : ACs, Fridge, Microwave : all.
Nothing.
But this time : everything blew up : EVERYTHING.
from phone charger : to refrigerator, ac.
withing 5 secs.
Tube lights were melted..
and every primary capacitor : in every plugged in appliance : blown.
Talked to lots of people : electricians : neighbors : the umpteeen service guys who will visit to fix the 'issue'.
None of them had known anything similar : the whole house blown down in a haunting power surge : local to an apartment.
No explanation : till date.
even discussing the 'phenomena' : made me sound like 'delusional' 🙂
but bills and repair downtime : was too real to ignore.
I was being tested : to my limits.
but by who?
I knew my family was 'protected' : by something.
Stuff blew up. But lives were saved.
I knew some1 had saved us.
further thoughts...
there are instances : which shake all your 'logical' beliefs. For me : this was undeniable...
the equipment : all of it : from wires to MCBs and even the panels : all in prime shape - i am kind of safety first : when it comes to investing in big appliances and electric.
All MCBs : new and worked flawlessly : siemens branded.
Nothing 'logical' : yet it happened. 😶
