I want to share an insight about humor/wit...
and it unacknowledged power - in "editing" people's behavior..
and we have witnessed it ... in last few decades...
12 clock jokes : absolutely nonsensical...
so illogical...even correcting them...seemed a waste of time...
the community/religion on which this jokes were aimed at...
began laughing at them...themselves...
the jokes lost their fizz...
but somehow...something was lost..
i remember my classmates/buddies of that community...
being warm whacky...
and they dint care - not a bit...
a lot of 'life' and moments...happened..
festivals had an 'energy' to it...unmistakable joy...
and the jokes...somehow took that away...
that was something unique to 'delhi' of old.
further thoughts...
jokes - alien-ated a community...
a laughing stock of a derived religion - out of need...for the majority of yellow and green??
control on media : is quite known : when even radio licenses were issued till 1970s?
