Consider the ideas of digital real estate/identity...
and all that grows with it..
legacy, memories and data...
lots of it...
the 'ownership' of that data - is kinda : shady...
the service provider google/adobe/etx : have a stake on it..
...apart from locking it 'security' in the 'cloud'..
the idea is making a domain ownership...kinda important..
not the idea of sitting on domain names...
but thinking more of it as a tech home..
which provides all the services - for their digital needs.
calls apps ai photu stuff...
hence a new spin of old idea of sip calls...
it becomes valuable - when it solves for a home.
further thoughts...
2/4 TB with hotswap raid .... cloud backup...
with openoffice bleh blah...
phone apps - which only use the domain backed services...
that sort of thing - a homey cloud.
