Debian mate - my choice of desktop for some time...
sure it takes much time to setup...for desktops and lappies..

u can run the whole throttle desktop on a core2duo / 2 gb ram...
as in 2008? as today...

ram : from 256Mb -> 8 - 24 GBs of it...

on contrary : android - a 'modern' os with all bell and whistles : takes GBs and umpteen repos and that damm java which would take few hours to compile..
and then there is all this debug and final build bleh blah - which also is a pleasure..and then there is that 'bootloader' thing..
it is just too much to too little - and now its not little anymore - 6.6 inches of it...
older times : jean pockets used to be the slickness of phone...
but now, thats not even a 'choice' - coz its so 'rugged' and nice.
