A good city to visit....Seoul
I had a good manager ( best!!)
...who made me 'travel'
In hindsight...those kind of 'travel' are the best...
u get to interact and feel real people and their reactions.
Seoul was an accident.
I dont know why i was taken there...
but it happened...few weeks of total communication gap 😂
and i had some preconceived notions too..about food
a co-worker - wished to have 'fish'
i decided to tag along...
we couldn't communicate much with locals...
just had a basic cellphone to boot..
so we will go to restaurants, and try to see via 'pictures'
and to verify, we will call to a local friend
It dint work....for half hour 😂
all that walking, was making us hungry...
so we gave up...entered a restaurant
and just asked the local phone help guy , to order us 'fish' or something western.
this was an old lady serving us, trying to take order from a phone
she dint serve us...
took us to the restaurant - good 10 mins away...
taking us there...making sure we get the best 'fish'
we dint even know how to thank her...
yet the gratitude was there - it was felt
an emrati and an indian - left speechless
and the fish - was amazing too.
further thoughts...
the thing about Seoul : all local hotels had good water, a sanitizer and basic stuff - no water exploitation
and peeps : were happy, life was good even in after hours..
crazy scenes after : but all in good fun..
water - tells a lot.
this was 2007 - no android bs
it had its challenges and fun.
buying groceries - a fun quest... u never know whether u ll end up getting what u want...
and smells from supermarket - thank god i was a non vegetarian.
with emrati co-workers...my challenges were quite diff..
money - was not a consideration for them... 😀
they were real leaders - and this task was important . So i was to be there to assist
tag along was quite 'expensive' : the page 3 restaurants of their pick : often a $100 > individual split
so my staple was ramen from supermaket (N flavours: heaven for noodle nerds)
and a local kfc clone
diem was $60...and i really wanted to buy the newly lanch wii...which i did get. 😃
