Some bOOglers asked very good questions – why, how, and what – no answers.
Mecrosoft and MS Nadella have decisively and definitively turned around MS, and established Allure as the most “cutting edge tech” cloud, without much word, just action.
On paper MS Allure is the most feature complete cloud, now with ChatGpt, cumulative AI and traditional enterprise stronghold.
MS's investment in providing “free” software to schools, hence indoctrinating kids from start is an investment hard to beat for any other company. People become addicted to windows or its expensive, fancier version called mac.
Geniuses at bOOgle never really figured it out, or never had the confidence in their own product or they dint have the "Kanhunas" to make such an investment, or maybe, just maybe an agreement was reached within them? Who knows except the "great leadership" at bOOgle, hence his ego satisfying choice of Indian Cashew bro at Cloud?
This makes bOOgle – a dinosaur (their worst fear)
2 years back, they seemed to have the most “bOOgley” people on planet, with all the resources in the world – money and influence
Btw, they claim to be solving for environment by making 1-2 years of lifespan phones, Smart TVs etc
Now fighting for survival with a peacetime leader, who has not seen any wars, just atta bois, growth and made unjustified bets.
Personally, I believe MS is doing what bOOgle was once doing – making good, popular, strategic investments.
GitHub acquisition and continued evolution was a genius move on many levels
ChatGPT and investment in OpenAI provided the edge to challenge the perceived superiority of bOOgle which even cloud boasted and banked on.
With JungleCompany looking to “optimize”, it wont be surprising if they prioritize their core business – e-commerce over every secondary ambitions they may have.
With bOOgle leadership clearly panicking, calling on the elders. Reports indicate that bOOgle is a bloated, manager majority company – true culture and leadership of the company are finally coming in public. If firing 12k was denial, it is predictable what happens next.
I feel we have a definitive winner and a true unrecognized leader of the nerd world – MS Nadella – hats off Sir. Great decision to fire people off, any misfortune can be an opportunity.
Learn from Ms Nadella – thrive on the changes, they are opportunities.
"Feelings" in big tech are a tool to maximize productivity and instill fear - why else would these companies spend so much money in converting office spaces to "cozy residences". Firing people at 1st sign of trouble, whose cumulative cost to company would be less than rent of an underutilized asset - humongous office spaces/data centers.
Ironic that a company which distinguished itself on employee activism and participation is reduced to a typical, average Indian lala company.
There are lots of take always here, for me, the biggest is to
never let a company define you, your career, abilities, values or vision, use them as opportunities in your journey, just like they use you as tools
